SFT brings Washed Guatemalan Robusta to the Russian marketSFT proudly presents: Guatemalan Robusta! Get ready to do away with all your habitual expectations for taste and aroma connected with Robusta.
Geographically this remarkable coffee comes from San Marcos region in the west of Guatemala which borders with Mexico. It grows at the altitude of 700 meters above sea level. Our Robusta is harvested and processed on the farm named Finca San Luis Malacatan. Methods of harvesting and processing make this kind of Robusta unique. Only red cherries are picked. Coffee is then depulped, classified and naturally fermented. Afterwards it is washed and run through a water channel to separate floaters and defective beans. Finally it is dried using rotary driers for a slow and even drying process. Such intent attention to the methods of processing results in its unique taste. Main characteristics: - cup profile: clean, consistent, well balanced, remarkable acidity which is rare for Robusta; - screening: 14 up (90% screen 15 and above). Exporter - Export Café Guatemala - a company of ECOM group.

The coffee was described by the Great Taste Awards judges as "faultless" and as a "complex and interesting aroma to the beans with a hint of fruit and an almost indescribable aroma of the sea... the drink is rounded but with a brightness that lifts it and a body with hints of dark chocolate and another indefinable spiciness".
Jamaica Blue Mountain. The coffee was described as "close to perfect" and as having a "nice subtle aroma with a hint of fruitiness and a nice roundedness".

"Brazil: New Identity Revealed" - this seminar was held within the framework of the forum, presented by Mr. Washington Rodriguez. Below are excerpts from the introduction.
Brazil underwent a coffee quality revolution since 1991. The country, focused in the past in quantity with the purpose of developing other sectors of the country´s economy, has now many farms devoted to quality. The Cup of Excellence Competition was created in Brazil and has been adopted in other countries as a marketing tool; the country has the second consuming market after the USA and the Brazilian Case for increasing coffee consumption has been used by the ICO and has inspired other producing countries. Brazil offers nowadays distinct and exquisite preparations among naturals, pulped naturals and fully washed coffees. The country is present in many important blends and coffee shops around the world now have their own Brazilian specialty supplier. What has happened in Brazil in just 18 years? Find out more about this new reality.
Having gained the upper hand over 31 national champions in cup tasting, Valentina Kazachkova, head technologist of "Montana coffee", the biggest specialty roaster in Russia with whom we've been working for many years,- has become the World Cup tasting Champion 2009 on the 28th of June in Cologne, Germany. It is a most welcomed news for the Russian coffee circles since no one from the industry could have boasted being the world champion before that. It is our particular pleasure that Russia has become Number One specifically in cup tasting for that involves understanding and knowledge of what we are bringing to the market - different grades and flavours, taste profiles and differences, and similarities,- as well as it is making the borderline between two alike tasting coffees grow more and more sophisticated. For all that we thank Valentina. And congratulations!!!
Rumours are circulating about the approved sale of barreled 200 T of Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee for Russian market and we have been requested to comment on them by our Clients. From our side we have asked our Partner Messrs. Blue Mountain Coffee (Europe) Ltd., London for their comments. Mr. Peter de Bruyne who is currently on business trip in Jamaica was very surprised with our question. “For a number of years total production of JBM coffee is equivalent to 1000 T for barreled coffee of which 90 percent goes to Japan. The balance 100 T goes to USA and Europe. Plus there are 5000 T of bagged Triage JBM coffee which goes 100 percent to Japan and is a banned export to Europe including Russia by Jamaican Ministry of Agriculture. There is also the remaining production which is not passed for export on quality grounds by the CIB and is consumed domestically. Thus 200 T in context of JBM is ludicrously high figure and nobody in Jamaica is aware of any approval given for such export to a newcomer from Russia”.
